Shackleton

Shackleton

Ref: X121

In stock

Counted cross stitch kit representing an AEW.2 Avro (BAe) Shackleton, in its final role as flown by No 8 Sqn RAF at Lossiemouth. The Avro Shackleton was the last front-line propeller-driven aircraft in service with the RAF, and a descendant of the Lancaster bomber first flown many years ago. They first entered service in the 1950's in a maritime patrol role, until Nimrods replaced them in the early 1970's. The airborne early warning Shackletons served with No 8 Squadron for nearly 20 years, from Spring 1972, briefly at Kinloss and then moving to Lossiemouth. Finally, on 1 July 1991, No 8 Squadron retired its Shackletons and moved to Waddginton where it was re-equipped with the Sentry AEW.1.

The design contains only whole cross stitches - no part stitches - and some back stitches. The stitched measurements are 11.8" x 6.8"/30 cm x 17.3 cm.

It would fit a frame measuring 37.9 cm x 21.6 cm without mount, or 40.6 cm x 30.5 cm with mount. The standard fabric in the kit is 14 count white blockweave Aida. 28 count evenweave 100% Cashel linen is available as an option for £3 extra. The kit also contains DMC stranded cottons in 13 shades, ready-sorted on a thread organiser with the key, needle, easy-to-follow charts, small scale and large scale, full instructions for beginners and specific instructions for this kit.
